The Australia India Tech Dialogue (AITD) is an innovative platform aimed at fostering meaningful and action-oriented discussions between Australia and India on key technological issues, challenges, and opportunities. Set to launch in 2025, AITD will serve as a bridge connecting policymakers, academics, tech entrepreneurs, innovators, and experts from both nations to collaboratively explore and develop solutions to contemporary tech challenges.
This dialogue series is designed to promote a deep understanding of the technological landscape in both countries and encourage the formulation of impactful policies that can drive sustainable growth and innovation. By leveraging shared knowledge and diverse perspectives, AITD seeks to become a pivotal forum for shaping the future of technology in Australia and India, and by extension, influence global tech ecosystems.

- Weekly Internal Interactions: To prepare for the monthly dialogues, there will be weekly internal meetings among key stakeholders to set the agenda, discussion points, and objectives. This iterative process ensures that the dialogues remain relevant, focused, and impactful.
- Twelve Dialogues: A series of twelve dialogues in 2025 will be conducted, addressing various aspects of technology, policy, and innovation.
Strategic Importance of AITD
- Bilateral and Multilateral Engagement: AITD aims to serve not only as a bilateral initiative but also explore connections with other regional and global partners. This broader engagement will enable Australia and India to contribute significantly to global tech dialogues, setting examples for other countries.
- Addressing Global Tech Challenges: The dialogues will focus on global tech challenges such as cybersecurity threats, the ethical implications of artificial intelligence, the digital divide, and sustainable technological innovation. By engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, AITD will work towards identifying and implementing solutions that are globally applicable.
- Influencing Policy and Practice: One of the core goals of AITD is to influence technology policymaking by providing evidence-based recommendations. The involvement of parliamentarians from both countries ensures that insights from these dialogues reach the highest levels of governance, facilitating impactful policy changes.
Conclusion
The Australia India Tech Dialogue is poised to be a transformative platform that not only strengthens the bilateral relationship between Australia and India but also sets a precedent for global collaboration in technology and innovation. By focusing on shared learning, mutual growth, and impactful policymaking, AITD aims to address some of the most pressing tech challenges of our time and inspire a more connected, informed, and equitable global community.
